Ram 1500 Engine Options
With the Ram 1500, you get a ton of different engine options! The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 which will get drivers around 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. One of the best things about the V6 engine is that it comes standard with an eTorque system that will help improve the fuel economy and the engine's stop/start capability. Most trims will give you the option of a 5.7-liter V8 which kicks out a spectacular 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque available with or without the eTorque. Want your Ram to come with some diesel power? The Ram is happy to oblige as it has the option of a turbocharged and diesel-powered 3.0-liter V6 that will pump out 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. Still not enough power? Then there is the TRX trim which comes with standard with a turbocharged 6.2-liter V8 which tears up the pavement with 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Every single one of these engines pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel-drive, while four-wheel-drive is available for those who want a little more traction on and off the road.
Chevy Silverado Engine Options
The Silverado tries to counter what the Ram 1500 offers with a few interesting options in their own right. Standard is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder that gets you around 310 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. From here, several options are available to you, with the first being a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and the second a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The Silverado, like the Ram, also comes with a diesel option which is a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel-powered V6 that has 277 horses and a solid 460 lb-ft of torque. These engine pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission which is smooth and quick to respond. We like a lot about what the Silverado has in terms of power, but the Ram is a touch more powerful!
Ram 1500 Features
The Ram 1500 is one of the most powerful vehicles on the road and is also one of the most equipped. The base trim is known as the Tradesman, which comes standard with 18-inch wheels, a 23-gallon gas tank, active grille shutters, coil-spring suspension, and trailer-sway control. You also get heated and power-adjustable mirrors. If you go with the Big Horn trim and above, you will get the latest version of the Uconnect system, which has speeds that are four times faster than the previous version and can hold three times as much memory, and comes with onboard Wi-Fi and tow-specific navigation. Higher trims will also get you a brilliant 12-inch touchscreen. Later years will also come with special editions that will offer you more impressive items such as22-inch alloy wheels, quilted leather upholstery, suede headliner, jeweled shifter knob, and a 19-speaker audio system. Finally, all versions of the Ram 1500 come with a Clean Air System, which filters out 95% of bad particles and creates one of the cleanest cabins around!
Chevy Silverado Features
When it comes to features, the Silverado struggles to keep up, but it does come standard with leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, and a Bose premium audio system with stainless steel speaker grilles and 12 tie-downs. However, if you are looking for more advanced features, you will need to go with one of the higher trims, which have power windows/door locks, cruise control, and 20-inch wheels. The LT trim is worth getting as it has chrome bumpers, mirror caps, GM's OnStar-connected services, and semi-automatic single-zone climate control. You also get more advanced tech items such as a larger touchscreen, black accents, LED fog lights and taillights, keyless entry and start, and a rear window defogger. There is some exciting stuff here, but the Ram 1500 is much better equipped.
