The Vehicle Exchange Colorado (VXC) program helps income-qualified Coloradans recycle and replace their old or high-emitting vehicles with electric vehicles (EVs). The program rebate will partially cover the upfront cost of the EV at the time of purchase or lease from an authorized automobile dealer. Switch to an EV and reduce your carbon footprint—EVs produce 60-68% lower lifetime emissions compared to similarly sized gas-powered vehicles! There are currently a limited number of dealerships certified for this program, and Prestige Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is proud to be one of them! Below, you will find all the details of the VXC program, what vehicles qualify, and how to get started.
What is the VXC Application Process?
To get started, you must first create an account on the official application portal. Applicants must provide their name, contact info, driver's license, proof of income qualification, and proof of current residency in the state of Colorado. A specific list of acceptable income and address documentation can be found on the VXC website.
The program typically reviews applications within 10 business days. Make sure you provide all required info to avoid delays. If approved, a rebate will be issued which must be redeemed within 90 calendar days. Only one rebate per tax household is available at this time. Recipients may only redeem their rebates at participating authorized dealers in Colorado, like Prestige!

Who Qualifies for the VXC Program?
To be eligible for a VXC rebate, you must be a resident of Colorado, 18 years of age or older, and eligible to purchase or lease a vehicle in Colorado. A valid Colorado driver's license is required.
Income Eligibility: You must meet one of the following criteria:
- Household income below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), or
- Current enrollment in a qualifying financial assistance program (e.g., CARE, WAP, RTD, SSDI, WIC, LEAP, SNAP, or SSI).
You will need to provide proof of income documentation, such as the last 6 months of pay stubs, your most recent Federal tax form 1040, or proof of program enrollment. To find out if your income qualifies, contact the VXC program or give us a call here at Prestige!

- Must be a Colorado Resident
- Must own and eligible vehicle for exchange
- Must meet income guidelines (Less than 80% AMI or Assistance Program)
What Old or High-Emitting Vehicles can be Exchanged?
To participate, you must exchange a qualifying old or high-emitting vehicle. The vehicle you are trading in must meet the following strict requirements:
- Ownership: Title must be issued solely to the participant and cannot have a lien (no outstanding loans).
- Registration: Must be currently registered under the participant's name with the Colorado DMV.
- Condition: The vehicle must be operational.
- Fuel Type: Must be gasoline- or diesel-powered.
- Age/Emissions: The vehicle must be at least 12 years old (e.g., model year 2011 or older for a 2023 application) OR fail a Colorado emissions test. "Note: Hybrid vehicles, motorcycles, RVs, campers, and boats are not eligible for exchange through VXC."
- Gas/Diesel powered & Operational
- At least 12 years old OR fail CO emissions
- Title solely in your name (No Liens)
- Currently registered in CO under your name
What Models Can I Buy with the VXC Rebate?
If you do qualify for a rebate, the next step is to determine which vehicle you would like to purchase! Both Battery electric (BEV), and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) qualify for the program. The new EV also must have an MSRP of $80,000 or less. For a used EV, the final negotiated purchase price must be $50,000 or less (not include destination charges, optional items, or taxes and fees). So - what models will you find here at Prestige? We currently carry four vehicles that qualify for the VXC Rebate. The Wagoneer S, Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs, the Charger Daytona and the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV minivan!
