To get started, you will first need to create an account on the application portal to apply. To apply, applicants must provide their name, contact info, driver's license, proof of income qualification, and proof of current residency in the state of Colorado. A specific list of acceptable income and address documentation can be found on the VXC website. Next, the program will review your application within 10 business days. Make sure you provide all the required info to avoid delays.  If your application is approved, then a rebate will be issued. Rebate recipients must redeem their rebates within 90 calendar days of being issued a rebate. Only one rebate per tax household is available at this time. Recipients may only redeem their rebates at participating automobile dealers in Colorado, which includes us here at Prestige!

To be eligible for a VXC rebate, you must be a resident of Colorado, 18 years of age or older, income-qualified, eligible to purchase or lease a vehicle in Colorado, and own an eligible old or high-emitting vehicle. A valid Colorado driver license is also required. When you apply you must give proof of a current physical Colorado address.  Acceptable proof of address documents include things like a current Colorado driver's license, a utility bill, bank statement, pay stub, or current insurance policy. Next, you also must meet the income eligibility requirements, which is determined by income and household size. To meet the income-qualifications for the VXC rebate, your household income needs to be below 80% of the area median income (AMI). You will need to provide proof of income documentation, which includes last 6 months of pay stubs, your 2022 Federal tax form 1040, or proof of enrollment is programs such as CARE, WAP, RTD, SSDI, WIC, LEAP, SNAP, or SSI.  To find out if your income qualifies, contact the VXC program, or give us a call here at Prestige, and we are happy to help!

Another aspect of the VXC program is that you must have a qualifying vehicle to exchange. Coloradan's old or high-emitting vehicle must meet requirements including thing like - the vehicle must be operational and gasoline- or diesel-powered. It also must be at least 12 years old or fail an emissions test in Colorado. Also, the vehicle title must be issued solely to the participant and currently titled in Colorado. It cannot have a lien and must be currently registered under the participant's name with the Colorado DMV. Hybrid vehicles, motorcycles, RVs, campers, and boats are not eligible to exchange through VXC at this time.

If you do qualify for a rebate, the next step is to determine which vehicle you would like to purchase!  Both Battery electric (BEV), and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) qualify for the program. The new EV also must have an MSRP of $80,000 or less. For a used EV, the final negotiated purchase price must be $50,000 or less (not include destination charges, optional items, or taxes and fees).
